A medico-legal marketplace for experts and solicitors
Two websites on one platform: a marketplace connecting solicitors with medical experts, and a consulting-room finder for the experts.
The client
A medico-legal agency that connects solicitors with medical experts who write reports for personal-injury and clinical-negligence claims.
The challenge
Finding the right medical expert for a case, agreeing fees, arranging the examination and getting the report back meant a lot of phone calls and paperwork on both sides.
For medical experts
Experts managed their medico-legal profile and CV, responded to quote requests, managed appointments and cases, uploaded reports, and invoiced and got paid.
For solicitors
Solicitors searched for experts by discipline and location, set up cases with a guided wizard, instructed experts, tracked progress and reports, and paid invoices or bought credits. Each report went through quality checks.
Two brands, one platform
The same system also powered a second website where experts found and booked consulting rooms near the people they needed to examine.
For the agency
A back office covering experts, venues, cases and invoicing, with bulk email, reporting, mapping and statistics by discipline. Experts' GMC registration was checked automatically, and reminders went out by email and text.
How it ended
We developed and supported the platform until the agency closed.
Technical details
One shared codebase served both branded websites: a content-managed public site (Umbraco), expert and solicitor portals, a Windows back-office application and a background service for scheduled tasks.
Built on .NET with ASP.NET Web Forms and SQL Server.
